Mr. McKenzie is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tellurex Corporation of Traverse City, Michigan. Tellurex is a world leader in product development around thermoelectric technology. He co-founded McKenzie Curtiss-Lusher & Associates LLC and MC-L Holdings LLC (“MC-L”) in 2004. The first entity works with privately owned businesses in management development, due diligence and strategic planning. The latter entity is invested in a variety of businesses and in real estate.
In 2001, Mr. McKenzie was one of three principals that created Strategic Asset Management LLC ("SAM"). SAM invested in a series of real estate syndicates and other businesses in Europe and in the United States. SAM founded and operates Nexus Resources LLC, an oil and gas exploration and production company. Nexus has, in turn, spun off a variety of special purpose oil and gas related investment partnerships. He is a director of Nexus. In 2011, he and his partner in MC-L founded Blind Squirrel Partners LLC, an oil and gas company diversified into four strategic areas in the United States. Nexus invests side by side with Blind Squirrel as both firms diversify geographically and by oil vs. gas balance.
Mr. McKenzie and his son, a Michigan graduate and attorney in Colorado, are building the McKenzie Family Partnership LLC by acquiring diversified holdings in oil and gas, real estate and non-operating ownership in privately owned industrial and service companies.
Mr. McKenzie was an executive in various capacities in commercial banking, in oil and gas exploration and production and in the natural gas pipeline and services industries for over 25 years. He was Chief Financial Officer of KN Energy, Inc., an integrated energy services provider, when KN acquired Kinder Morgan, Inc. (now the successor company).
He has served on a variety of Boards of Directors of energy companies including Tom Brown, Inc., a Midland, Texas, NYSE-traded oil and gas exploration and production company (since acquired by Encana), and on the boards of energy industry and community organizations. Currently, he is an Emeritus Director of the Anti-Defamation League for the Rocky Mountain States.
