Competitions
In the 2006-2007 academic year, 16 students comprising
8 teams represented the Ross School of Business at intercollegiate
competitions held around the world and received over $10,000
in prize money. These students devoted months to developing
their company to be ready for these competitions and gained
the feedback of high-powered investors, serial entrepreneurs,
and successful CEOs while networking with their future
colleagues.
Gus Simiao (MBA '07) with his company VIVACE
placed first in the Trade Show and Lightening Round in
the New
Venture Championship at the University of Oregon,
he was a finalist in the Clean
Tech Innovation Challenge at the University of Colorado,
and in the HKUST
International Business
Plan Competition at the Hong Kong University of Science
and Technology he placed third in the Trade Show, second
in the Elevator Pitch, and earned second place overall.
Shaily Baranwal and Suhas Ghuge (MBAs '07) with their
company Elevate Learning placed first in the
Wildcard Round in the Business
Plan Competition at Rice University, were named Best
Market Opportunity in the MOOT
CORP Competition at the University of Texas, Austin,
and were named finalists in the Jungle
Business Plan Challenge sponsored by Jungle Media
Group.
Anug Agarwal (MBA '07) and Lora Schulwitz (Ph.D. '06)
with their company Savium placed first in the
Elevator Pitch in the McGinnis
Venture Competition at Carnegie Mellon University
and were also named finalists in the Jungle
Business Plan Challenge sponsored by Jungle Media
Group.
Merrill Guerra (MBA '08) with her company RealKidz
Clothing placed first in the elevator competition
in the Northwest
Venture Championship at Boise State University.
Adam Litle, Aaron Nelson (MBAs ’08), and Gayatri
Perlin (Ph.D ’07) with their company MNI Systems
placed first in the Trade Show in the International
Business Plan Competition at the University of San
Francisco and placed first overall in the Quick
Pitch competition at FuturTech.
Brewster Boyd (MBA/MS ’09) with his company Forest
Eye Consulting placed second in The
Elevator Competition at Wake Forest University and
placed third overall in the Quick
Pitch competition at FuturTech.
Daniel Brachfeld, Erin McCann, Matthew Ransweiler (BBAs
'07) with their company Wolverine Lens placed
fourth in the Nascent
500 at Ball State University.
Carolyn Ceccoli (MBA ’07), Rohan Mendonza, and
Barbra Perlstein (MBA ’08) with their company PWR:
Professional Women’s Resource placed third
in the Stuart
Clark Venture Challenge at the University of Manitoba
and placed second overall in the Quick
Pitch competition at FuturTech.
