Asterand (Detroit, Michigan) is the leading supplier of high quality human tissue and tissue-based services. Asterand operates a human tissue and blood bank which provides material and services for commercial and academic research into the causes and cures for the major diseases that affect mankind. The bank contains thousands of samples covering all the major diseases including various cancers, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and neurological conditions.

Project Focus: Marketing Strategy

Sally Ride Science (San Diego, California) is focused on providing services and developing branded events, products and programming for the 10 million girls in upper elementary and middle school. As the company grows, it will develop branded merchandise, and collaborate with partners to create software titles, publications, electronic games and media programming. This will be aided by the company's license to use the name and likeness of "Sally Ride," a national figure with widespread name recognition and visibility

TechTown is creating an entrepreneurial village with global impact by nurturing and growing companies in the alternative energy, life science, homeland security, and advanced automotive technology industries. Its 12 block research and tech park is nurturing high-tech companies and transforming local students into knowledge workers through technology-focused educational programs.

Velcura Therapeutics (Ann Arbor, Michigan) develops therapies that stimulate bone formation. The company identifies and validates cellular targets involved in bone formation and bone disease. These targets are developed by Velucra, and licensed to strategic partners for co-development of small molecules and biologicals that stimulate bone formation. Velcura also generates additional revenue from strategic partnerships that lead to effective drug therapies.
